What to do when the law of attraction isn’t working

1. Surrender/love what is

When we resist what is, even subtly by thinking it ’should’ not be like this or feel a need for something to be different, we keep ourselves from being present. When we are not present we live in our minds. We can make this seductively pleasant by thinking or visualising what we want but, if that’s all we do, it will interrupt our direct experience and enjoyment of life and keep us from knowing what is actually possible for us and how to enable that to happen,

How to be more feminine

Unhappy medium

The feminine principle has been suppressed for millennia. In recent decades, we have also learnt to suppress the masculine and relate in a safe, neutral way. Relating in a neutral way is expedient for all of us at times, but part of the richness of life and opportunity of this time, is for all of us to develop a wider spectrum of strengths and choices, and dance more freely with others, especially in intimate relationships. To dance we have to be willing to be and express something other than neutral. In doing so, we help others express more of themselves. In particular, when we are more feminine, we leave space for others to be more masculine. (more…)

‘Follow the follower’

Theatrical improvisers are encouraged to ‘follow the follower’, which allows scenes to evolve or be co-created organically. "Follow the follower’ is also a useful approach to life, allowing us to work with life, rather than be passive and/or fight it (and, sooner or later, lose). (more…)

Positive social proofing & consensus reality

The company we keep affects us in more ways than most of us care to believe. We like to think we make up our own minds but experiments have shown that, even with something apparently objective (like whether something is circle-like or square-like) our opinion is highly influenced by what we believe other people think. This is known as social proofing, a tendency to believe that the majority must be right and to follow the crowd. (more…)
